Kia Models Earn J.D. Power Awards

Kia Soul JD Power

Every year, J.D. Power releases its Initial Quality Study (IQS). With this year’s results, Kia came away with five segment awards—the most of any brand in the study. The Soul, Forte, Cadenza, Niro, and Sorento all drove away with the top award in their respective segments. Additionally, both the Optima and Sportage finished second in their classes.

Kia’s crossover lineup performed exceptionally well in this study. The Soul is the “Highest Ranked Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle in Initial Quality, 3 Years in a Row,”1 while the Sorento was named “Highest Ranked Midsize SUV in Initial Quality, 2 out of 3 Years in a Row”2. Even the all-new Niro hybrid was recognized as the “Highest Ranked Small SUV in Initial Quality”3.

As for Kia’s sedans, the Forte and Cadenza both were placed at the top of their segments. The Forte was named the “Highest Ranked Compact Car in Initial Quality”4 and the full-size Cadenza was the “Highest Ranked Large Car in Initial Quality”5.

In addition to these individual awards, the overall Kia brand performed very well in the study. Kia finished with a score of 72 problems per 100 vehicles, which is thelowest number of problems for the brand within the last 20 years.

Fun Facts About the Intelligent Kia Niro Design

2017 Kia Niro Design

The 2017 Kia Niro is a redesigned crossover that’s built with efficiency in mind. A hybrid powertrain offers up to 50 mpg combined* and nearly 600 miles in range. It also has a sporty exterior that adds appeal and also serves a practical function, improving performance and aerodynamics. In fact, there are a number of fun facts about the Kia Niro design.

According to Kia, the hybrid Niro also comes with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with sport mode. Sport mode allows you to optimize shifting and make the steering firmer, while the dual-clutch is perfect for smooth shifting.

The Niro’s impressive gas mileage isn’t just due to the smart powertrain, as the Niro is also built with several lightweight materials. These include an aluminum-alloy hood and tailgate, as well as some composite materials in the interior. In fact, the Niro is the most fuel-efficient crossover on the market.

You can also find standard aerodynamic vents on the Niro. These vents help to create an “air curtain” that reduces the turbulence around the wheels and optimizes underbody flow. This helps to create a truly comfortable ride on the road while also reducing drag.

Other great features include a strategic battery replacement system and fold-flat seating, both of which are made with convenience in mind. At Bob Sight Kia, we couldn’t be more excited about the all-new Kia Niro.
